David Tsui

David is Trade Commissioner with Global Affairs Canada’s Vancouver office. He leads the technology and innovation practice, helping companies enter global markets for venture financing, commercial deals and partnerships. His years in federal government have included economic intelligence positions and a number of lead policy roles, including with the Privy Council Office during the time of Prime Ministers Paul Martin and Stephen Harper. He was appointed to a special cross-disciplinary team that conducted diligence on recent supercluster proposals. A Vancouver native, prior to government, David also spent time doing business development in several local start-ups and investment banking in Hong Kong.

The Trade Commissioner Service (TCS) is housed in Global Affairs Canada to help Canadian companies analyze foreign markets and enter to drive exports. Trade Commissioners are positioned in 160 offices around the world, and a further five in Canada. Working closely with other parts of the federal system such as NRC IRAP, BDC and EDC, the TCS contributes to Canada’s economic development by helping companies grow through commercial deal flow.
